The current trend in ceramic flooring is large-format porcelain stoneware. They are materials of great hardness and low water absorption, subjected to a single firing process that makes the material at the base the same as that on the surface. This quality makes them ideal for kitchen floors.
If we also want the joints to go unnoticed and barely noticeable, it is better to choose a rectified material where the cut of the tile is completely straight at a 90º angle without the bevel or rounding on the edges of conventional ceramics.
To achieve an impeccable 100% finish we need that the pieces do not have warping (curvature in the central area) that could create “eyebrows” (elevations or imbalances) between some tiles and the adjacent ones. Finally, it is highly recommended to also leave at least a 1-2 mm joint.
In this case, the material had a defect in its manufacturing process and had to be replaced with a new one.
