Wooden floors are preferred by most of us to place in our homes, offices, businesses... since they provide warmth and unique beauty to our floors, but the inconveniences of somewhat expensive maintenance can make us back out of our choice.
In recent decades, laminate flooring (synthetic flooring that imitates traditional flooring but has little wood) has become popular. There is a great offer on the market, with a multitude of designs, formats, colors and textures, imitating practically all natural woods. Nowadays they are marketed with smooth finishes, with a structured texture (rough, rustic-type texture), or a synchronized finish (matching the relief of the board with the knot pattern of the wood).
They can have a microbevel (a small recess on the sides that marks the width of the board and creates a much more natural effect).
The truth is that imitations are getting better every day, and in many cases it is difficult to distinguish a natural wood platform from an “artificial” one at a glance.
The price is a determining factor, the truth is that they practically cost half as much as a floating wooden deck and that nowadays weighs a lot. Installation is very easy and quick. It is a floating click system that is installed almost like a meccano on a polyethylene blanket that acts as insulation.
Maintenance is without a doubt one of the main advantages. It requires the same maintenance as a ceramic floor, we can scrub it without any problem.
It offers great resistance to UV rays, so they do not discolor in sunlight, remaining unchanged over time.
It is highly recommended that you choose an antistatic floor and avoid suffering the typical "cramp" when touching something metallic or rubbing against another person.
Depending on the type of use, it is recommended to place the platform with the appropriate abrasion-resistant category. The floor in your living room does not require the same resistance as a commercial premises, since the traffic of use will be very different. At a minimum we recommend installing AC-4 or AC-5 categories.
It is also usually installed in bathrooms and kitchens, although we are somewhat reluctant. There are new rectified vinyl or porcelain floors on the market with beautiful wood designs that are totally suitable for wet rooms and rooms with humidity.
